In order to respect those who have requested Mass intentions during this time of the COVID-19 crisis, we are going to continue to offer Masses for these intentions. The intentions will not necessarily be celebrated on the original time and day that was scheduled. We have created a list of the scheduled Mass intentions and we will work down the list in the order that they were scheduled. Once public Masses resume, we will continue with the Masses as they were scheduled and reschedule those that we were unable to offer from that list.
A person may ask a priest or a parish to offer a Mass for a particular intention; a stipend of $5 is given to the priest or parish for offering the Mass, which thereby in justice creates an obligation which must be satisfied. The origins of this practice date to the early Church.
When we face the death of someone, even a person who is not Catholic, to have a Mass offered for the repose of his soul and to offer our prayers are more beneficial and comforting than any other sympathy card or bouquet of flowers.
To have a Mass offered on the occasion of a birthday, anniversary or special need is appropriate, beneficial and appreciated. You can have Masses offered at the cathedral for the living or the deceased.
Masses can be scheduled for your intentions at the Weekday Masses, Monday - Friday at 7:00am, 11:30am, & 5:15pm and Saturday at 11:30am, or at the Vigil Mass on Saturday at 4:30pm and the Sunday Masses at 8:30am and 6:00pm. The 11:00am Sunday Mass is always said for the Cathedral Parish.
Please understand that from time to time there may be a reason that requires us to cancel a Mass already scheduled. If that is necessary we will contact you and try to find another date.
If you would like to have a Mass intention scheduled, please print off this form and follow the instructions written on it - or you can call the Parish Office.
