In order to respect those who have requested Mass intentions during this time of the COVID-19 crisis, we are going to continue to offer Masses for these intentions. The intentions will not necessarily be celebrated on the original time and day that was scheduled. We have created a list of the scheduled Mass intentions and we will work down the list in the order that they were scheduled. However, we will not be able to accept any new Mass intentions for the foreseeable future.
A person may ask a priest or a parish to offer a Mass for a particular intention; a stipend of $5 is given to the priest or parish for offering the Mass, which thereby in justice creates an obligation which must be satisfied. The origins of this practice date to the early Church.
When we face the death of someone, even a person who is not Catholic, to have a Mass offered for the repose of his soul and to offer our prayers are more beneficial and comforting than any other sympathy card or bouquet of flowers.
